The assignment for the master course Crowd Simulation was to design a game using crowds. My group based our game on the Pixar movie Wall-E.
The game takes place on the Axiom, where humans stayed to flee the unhabitable earth. It is a two player game, who play Wall-E and Eve. Their goal is to get to the boot with the plant. Due to their different sizes and locomotion, Wall-E and Eve can do different things and are therefore required to work together.
The game has three different crowds. First, the humans in their chairs follow their paths and often block the paths of Wall-E and Eve. If Wall-E tries to pass through the crowd of humans, he will be taken with the flow. Eve can put herself in front of the humans and block their path, so that Wall-E can pass through. The second crowd consists of robot cops and try to catch Wall-E and Eve. Their target changes to the player who is closest to them. Lastly, there are some small robots who are malfunctioning. They have no instructions and are in the game to distract the players.
I focused on game and level design, and modeled Eve, the robot cop, the human in his chair, and the environments. Additionally, I created the textures for my models.
