For the master course Computer Animation, I made a short using motion capture data from Mixamo. Teddy, Timmy’s teddybear, protects Timmy from the monster in his present.
Originally, the course allowed the students to record their motion capture in the lab at Utrecht University. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic my year could not get to the lab. The course took 10 weeks, and therefore we resorted to the motion capture dataset called Mixamo, instead of animating everything ourselves.
I created the short with three other students, and due to the time constraint we decided to keep the number of characters low and have only one location. Additionally, we downloaded most of the models to have the most time for animating. The main characters were modelled by one of us and then rigged by the Mixamo rigging tool, which I adapted in Autodesk Maya to our needs. For example, I added some joints in the faces to allow for some facial expressions.
The short is created in Blender.
